Who is Eric Rice?
Eric has been a voracious reader ever since early childhood. Studying computer programming in college. It was instead the English and writing courses that drew his interest. Blessed with encouraging English professors, he changed to an English composition degree. Realizing an English degree would not provide many opportunities other than teaching, he was still determined to work in the emerging software industry. Armed with a minor in technical writing, Eric got into the computer industry, if not in the way originally intended.
Only using his tech writing skills for the first few years, he quickly took advantage of opportunities to try a variety of roles experiencing all facets of the business world in several large and small high-tech companies, including a successful IPO with one startup.
Since those early days with a keen interest in history and politics, the story he has started in What Can One Man Do?, has been germinating for nearly forty years. The diversity of roles in his business career also offered him the chance to travel the world for business and pleasure. A lifetime of experience combined with a desire to make a difference has culminated in this saga. A brief retirement, followed by a global pandemic, finally provided the time required to dig in and turn this idea into reality.
Why Write this book?
Eric believes there is a story to tell and fiction provided the best medium. He hopes the message in the book will help the reader contemplate the same choices being faced by Nick Turner. To understand the consequences of actions and to apply these to challenges we all face today. The story is both entertainment and parable. An example of the times we live in. The choices we face daily. And our responsibilities as citizens of a free republic.
